Clients & Process

You’ve seen our clients appearing on television and in film, leading global, national, and regional businesses, in the courtroom, at the highest levels of government, and receiving acclaim for their accomplishments in sports and entertainment. Greg Chapman has been the tailor of choice, to whom the most successful turn, for incomparable luxury clothing and accessories.

We have a history of maintaining long distance relationships with clients across the country and around the world, many that we haven’t seen for 10 to 40 years, yet they receive new clothing to whatever their current size specifications, all ordered by telephone in a matter of minutes.  We discuss fabric swatches as we both refer to duplicate swatch sheets.  Or, in the case of weight gain, they simply send us an email and ask what we add an inch to the waist from their previous suit.  That one inch in the waist, will be adjusted by us to reflect in 20 other measurements, from their chest to their hips to their button location to their rise to the underarm inseam and more – even to the shirt collar size and the wrist size of their shirt cuffs.  Our formula in delivering the finest bespoke garments has been tested in our 50-year experience, serving a diverse clientele, and the sale of $100 million dollars in custom suits.

The open-ended structure of our system, where an individual pattern is made from scratch, as opposed to the 95% of custom suits that start with the “block” pattern is a key difference.  Most custom suits are essentially a ready made suit with alterations.  They’re made from an average posture and shape, which for all but a few will not produce a smooth drape.  Our system allows greater creativity in capturing measurements and produces an entirely different result.  While there are other expert cutters and tailors, the Greg Chapman process results in a better fit and finished garment because we start with a better plan. Our approach allows for multiple adjustments, based on your body type, such as adjustments in your shoulder width, a different placement of your waist button, shorter or longer jacket by a fraction – a difference of ¼ to ½ inch in 6 or 8 places makes for a suit that isn’t just a perfect fit, but adds “sizzle,” making you look the best that you can look.  Greg Chapman clients know the difference in our custom clothing.
